Jewelry Care

TRACEY CHEN products are crafted from exquisite gemstones and designed by professionals to strict standards. To maintain their original luster, we recommend careful maintenance and proper storage, just like any other high-end jewelry. Following these care guidelines will help your jewelry stay beautiful for years to come.

Cleaning After Wear: After daily wear, gently clean gemstones and precious metal pieces with a neutral detergent and a soft brush (e.g., a small soft-bristled toothbrush with neutral dish soap). Rinse and dry using a hairdryer on a cool setting or a lint-free soft cloth before storing them individually.

Regular Cleaning Service: We recommend visiting TRACEY CHEN every six months for a cleaning service, allowing us to check and maintain your jewelry regularly.

Oils and Sweat Dulling Shine: Jewelry worn close to the skin is prone to collecting oils and sweat, which can accumulate in natural crevices and dull the sparkle of gemstones over time. Sweat, being acidic, can cause jewelry to lose its shine. Even diamonds, while hard and resistant to scratches, have oil-attracting properties. Regular cleaning is essential for keeping jewelry looking new. Precious metals (like gold, platinum, and 18K gold) are stable and unaffected by water, but body washes, hand soaps, and lotions often contain oils and mild acids. It’s advisable to put on jewelry only after washing your hands or applying lotions.

Moisture and Oxidation:
After cleaning your jewelry, remember to gently dry it and store it in a sealed bag or jewelry box. In Taiwan's humid climate, keeping jewelry away from moisture helps slow oxidation and prevent tarnishing, ensuring long-lasting beauty.

Avoid Physical Impact: TRACEY CHEN gemstones are natural and hard, but any impact to the ring or setting can cause stones to loosen or crack. Avoid wearing TRACEY CHEN jewelry during activities that may cause damage, such as heavy work, sports, gardening, or sleeping. Remove your beautiful jewelry in these situations to prevent damage or scratches.

Chemical Exposure: Household cleaners often contain bleach or chlorine, which can corrode alloys and weaken settings, potentially leading to loose gemstones. Avoid wearing jewelry while doing housework (like cleaning or washing dishes) or swimming to maintain its integrity.

Corrosive Effects of Seawater and Hot Springs: Seawater and hot springs can corrode alloys due to their high acidity and various minerals. It is best to avoid contact with both, as immersion can lead to loss of stones or slipping of jewelry.

Heat Damage: Keep jewelry away from heat sources, as extreme temperature changes can cause irreversible damage to gemstones.

Makeup and Perfume Damage
: Alcohol and chemicals in perfumes and makeup can harm certain gemstones, so avoid spraying perfume or applying makeup while wearing your jewelry.

Special Protection for Lite Series: The Lite series is made of 18K gold-plated material and is not recommended for regular exposure to water. Avoid wearing them while swimming, bathing, or in hot springs, and always remove and wipe down with a cloth after use to remove oils.

Regarding the conservation and storage of Pearls

We also recommend that you

  • After wearing pearls, please use a soft cloth to gently wipe off the adhered grease and dirt; do not use facial tissues, because some facial tissues will wear the pearls.
  • If you have pearl beads, we recommend that you change the thread every two years. Skin oil and frequent wearing will cause the thread to lose its elasticity and cause slack or break; please keep the beads beautifully crease to avoid breaking.
  • Avoid spotlight: pearls are organic gems, please avoid exposure to sunlight or strong light.
  • Avoid covering with absorbent cotton: absorbent cotton has a bleaching effect, which can chang pearls’ color.
  • Avoid splashing soap bubbles into the crevices of the jewellery, causing it to lose its luster.
  • Keep away from hard objects.
  • Keep away from high temperature, high humidity and extremely dry places.
